Oldfields Hall Parents, Teachers and Friends Association

Please note: at the Annual General Meeting it was decided to re-name the Association. The new name is the Oldfields Hall Parents, Staff and Friends Association.(PSFA)

What did the PTFA organise last year?
- We held a welcome evening for new parents early in the Autumn Term.
- There was a well attended “Pig Race” – fun for all the family – co-inciding with BBC Children in Need” night. We raised a considerable sum of money and a large donation was sent to “Children in Need” as well.
- The Christmas Fair held towards the end of the Autumn Term 2008 raised around £2000.
- The PTA arranged for 2 collections of clothes from "Bag2School".
- There was a Ladies "Pamper" Evening.
- We held an Evening Family Quiz in March 2009.
- Our big Summer Event was a outdoor Country Fair in July with live music.
- In addition, PTA members assisted with the organisation of several school events.

What has the fund-raising purchased?
Last year our fundraising efforts led to the opening of a magnificent new all weather games pitch as well as buying several small but important “extras” for the children.

Who does the P.T.F.A. consist of?
Parents and carers of students are automatically members, but there are elected officers, a committee and a number of occasional volunteers for those who wish to be more involved with the fund-raising events. "Friends" are members of the extended school community who have left us. The headteacher and all members of staff are also automatically members.

Who are the current elected Officers?
Chair - Maria Emery
Vice-Chair – Sally Vyse
Treasurer – David Hoult
Secretary – Liz Abram

Where, when and why do the P.T.F.A. meet?
In the school dining hall about 4 - 6 times per school year. Details of evening meeting dates are posted on the school website on the Extra Pages Section as they become known. These meetings are an opportunity to meet other parents to discuss and plan events to raise funds, discuss any issues that may be worrying you or your child and, of course, to plan how to spend the funds already raised!

Who can be involved in helping to raise funds?
Parents, students and family members, members of staff and friends of the school.

What help is needed and how can I help?
As little as an hour of your time is needed occasionally at the Fairs and various events that are held or to serve refreshments at School Concerts, Drama Evenings and Plays, Discos and Open Evenings that occur throughout the year. The Secretary will contact parents who have volunteered to help in this way.

Everybody has something to offer. That is why there is the opportunity to be an elected officer if you wish for more involvement, a committee member for a less ‘high profile’ position, or as an occasional volunteer for a more ‘behind the scenes’ role. Any new or different ideas for events that you may have are also most appreciated.

The events and the money raised directly benefit all the children attending the school.

Why have a P.T.F.A.?
It is a chance for you to socialise with other parents and students whilst working together to raise much-needed funds to enhance your child’s education.
