Administration of medicines at school

If your child uses an asthma inhaler, this should be clearly marked with a name and your child should carry it around at all times. The school office must be given a written note if your child has to take other medicine during school time on the advice of a doctor. Only the minimum quantity should be sent in, clearly labelled and left at the school office. Teachers normally do not take responsibility for the administration of prescribed medicines, however the school office will assist with this if they are asked by parents to do so.

Please tell us if your child is allergic to anything they may encounter in school. The school nurse runs staff briefings on medical conditions including anaphylactic shock and many staff have been trained on the use anapens/epipens in an emergency.
