Homework

Homework demands on your child increase progressively. In Year 5, some reading, spelling, art and tables work, as well as some "finishing off" will be set. In Years 6, 7 and 8 a homework timetable is sent home early in the Autumn Term. Up to an hour's homework is expected on most nights of the week. Your child will benefit if you can take an interest in their school work and homework and provide them with a quiet space to undertake tasks. Please encourage your child to establish a routine, where, for example, homework tasks are always done before going out to play.

Homework is not set for its own sake. Sometimes there will be occasions where no homework is set because it is not appropriate or because teachers are very busy with extra activities. Please use your child's Personal Organiser to inform staff if you have any concerns about the homework demands on your child, either too much or too little.

Mrs McMulkin and the teaching assistants run a daily club - the "Social Club" - at lunchtime in Room 19. Children who are finding difficulty with homework are encouraged to attend.
