 French Exchange Celebration event - PICTURES!     28th June 2010





On Friday 18th June, 17 Year 8 French students and 2 teachers from Treignac near Limousin, France came to Uttoxeter to stay with their exchange partners in Year 8. This was the second leg of our Design & Technology and French Exchange, as our Year 8 students had already stayed with their partners in France in October and attended their school.

Mrs Bose and Mrs Croft worked out a programme for our visitors involving visiting the Uttoxeter area, including some of our First Schools, and activities to do with food preparation. On the evening of Friday 25th June, there was a celebration event. Students prepared and served a meal to parents and guests while they recounted what they had learned from the experience.

"It was great to see the children from Uttoxeter and Treignac working together to produce the French meal (which tasted delicious, and very authentic!) - they had obviously developed some firm friendships.

Projects like this are a great way for young people to learn about other countries and cultures by working together on joint activities which form part of the schools' curriculum, and to practise their foreign language skills in a stimulating and real-life situation." Hazel Chadfield, Staffordshire Advisory Teacher for International Links, who attended the event.

Thanks very much to the teachers who organised the Exchange, and well done to all those who took part.
